 Reiki
The Light that Heals
Reiki is a system of natural healing, discovered at the begining of the 20th century by a
Japanese priest and healer, Dr. Mikao Usui. Dr Usui chose the term Reiki,
that in Japanese means "Universal Life Force energy", in order to describe a
simple but extremely effective method to transmite this energy which brings
calmness peace and balance in all levels (body ,emotions and mind). Reiki is an
absolute safe healing method and can be applied either itself alone or in
combination with the conventional or alternative medicine (Homeopathy, Bach
Remedies, Reflexology, massage e.t.c.) Worldly experience has shown the
effectiveness of Reiki in a great range of diseases and healthy problems, often
with an impressive way.
In what way Reiki benefits?
The main actions of Reiki are:
- Bring deep psychosomatic relaxation and relieves from the tension
and stress.
- Improves the quality of sleep, alleviate pains, muscular tensions and
increases vitality.
- Dissolves the energy blockages and restores the normal energy flow within the
body.
- Stimulates the self-healing mechanisms of the body and enhances the
detoxification of tissues and body organs.
- Strengthens the immune system and the body as a whole.
- It slows down the process of ageing.
- In emotional level helps the discharge of intense emotions and their normalization.
- Increases the vibration frequency of the person, accelerates its spiritual growth and evolution.
- Strengthens love, tolerance and kindness for all beings.
How Reiki is applied
Reiki is applied by touching lightly hands on the body, in a particular series
of positions starting from the head and face and ending up to the soles. The
time frame for a Reiki session depends in a great extent to the needs of each
person, but usually ranges from 1-1½ hours. Reiki can be also applied to
animals, plants, even in persons who are absent, through the healing at a
distance.
Teaching of Reiki
Reiki is being taught through lessons or seminars. In the traditional system
there are three stages of training or levels, as they are called. In the 1st
level, the participants after an attunement process (which in Reiki terminology
is called "initiation"), are becoming transmission channels of this healing
energy. From the moment that this process is completed, Reiki starts to flow
through their hands, either towards themselves or towards others, activated
always by the power of intention. In the 2nd level the ability of transmitting
this life energy is very much increased. At the seminars of the 2nd level, the
participants are taught more advanced techniques of self-healing, including
healing at a distance and energy space clearing. The training in the first two
levels are held usually in two-day seminars. The 3rd level is the teacher's
level or Master Level. It is the last stage of training that gives to a person
the possibility to teach this system to others. The training lasts from three
months to one year and is adapted according to the participant's needs. The
prerequisites in order for someone to become teacher of Reiki are love and
devotion in Reiki as well as its regular practice for a long time.
The Ethical Principles of Reiki
Reiki's philosophy has five ethical principles or life directions. These
principles are:
- Just for today do not worry.
- Just for today do not anger.
- Honor your parents, teachers and elders.
- Earn your living honestly.
- Show gratitude to everything.
With the help of Reiki the person is harmonized gradually with its spiritual
self and as a result of this, its health becomes restored.
